4K is in it's infancy with only Sony producing the first and still only, in 2016, 4K Home Cinema Projectors to date. The VPL-VW320ES, VPL-VW550ES and VPL-VW1100ES are the models sold in the Australian Home Theatre Market. With retail price points of $11,999, $15,999 and $30,999 respectively.
4K UHD Blu Ray movies are now on the market and 4K players are also being released.
4K is 4 times the resolution of 1080P which is 1080 x 1920 giving you 2,073,000 pixels, whereas 4K is 8,294,400 pixels.
JVC and now Epson use a method called E-shift or 4K Enhancement (Epson) to 'emulate' a 4K picture. They do a stunning job and JVC are the kings of contrast! But please beware these are still 2K 1080P Projectors. Some retailers are pushing them as true 4K projectors when they are not. The reason we've listed them here under 4K Projectors is because unlike other 1080P Projectors, the JVC and Epson models can accept and play a 4K feed with in full 10bit colour and high dynamic range. These are stellar projectors and represent true value for money.
